Disclaimer: I personally know the author. As a professional librarian and book reviewer, it’s easy to be objective and say this is a humorous tale with a smattering of history (sources not cited) and wisdom packed alongside a simple tale of a very physically active person laid low by a hernia.

Dan uses humor and analogy to bring his points home. It’s a relatable book, and I wished it had been longer and more detailed.

If you’ve never had a hernia surgery, this only gives a little information about what to expect from diagnosis to pre-op; the lessons learned piece is a valuable reminder to anyone that it’s all relative.
