de Saint-Exupéry, Antoine. The Little Prince. Harcourt, 1943. ISBN 978-0152465032 93 pp. $
I find the 1943 version to be very favorite translation, the most poetic and beautiful. The story of a man who leaves his planet and his rose behind to explore the universe is as relevant today, with it’s lessons of taking care of your world, your problems, and your people.
“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye,” has been an axiom for my life since this sweet novella was read aloud at the Audubon Society summer camp I attended at age 7; I think I have read it aloud to every lover and it served as an excellent barometer for the relationship each time.
I am now reading to my sensitive artistic almost 10-year-old who loves it nearly as much as I.
